MILLINOCKET — Monmouth/Winthrop executed a deduction-free routine to win the Class D North/South regional cheering championship Saturday at Stearns Junior/Senior High School.

The Mustangs scored 69.9 points to distance themselves from second-place Central Aroostook (58.5). Bangor Christian was third with 47.8 points.

Monmouth/Winthrop will face the same teams at next weekend’s state championships at Augusta Civic Center.

BOYS BASKETBALL
LISBON 70, BUCKFIELD 34: The Greyhounds’ (13-2) offense got in gear early and they ran away with an MVC victory over the Bucks (2-13) in Lisbon.

Levi Tibbetts scored a team-high 16 points for Lisbon, which led 15-6 after one quarter and 33-15 at halftime. Mason Booker added 13 points and Hunter McCausland dropped in 12.

Ayden Jefferson paced Buckfield with 12 points and Gavin Charest pitched in with eight.

TELSTAR 65, WISCASSET 37: Brayden Stevens scored 24 points for the Rebels (2-13) in a win over the Wolverines (0-14) in Bethel.

Myles Lilly contributed 12 points for Telstar.

Nate Schutte led Wiscasset with 16 points.

DIRIGO 68, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 44: The Cougars (12-5) took control early, leading 22-10 after one quarter, on their way to a rivalry win over the Falcons (6-9) in Dixfield.

In his senior game, Wyatt Smith scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for Dirigo. Charlie Houghton paced the Cougars’ offense with 24 points.

Zach New scored 12 points for Mountain Valley.

WINTHROP 52, MONMOUTH 46: The Ramblers (12-3) pulled ahead of the Mustangs (8-4) in final quarter and earned a rivalry win in Monmouth.

Monmouth led at the end of each quarter, including 35-32 heading into the fourth, but Winthrop outscored the Mustangs 20-11 over the final eight minutes.

Logan Baird led the Ramblers with 17 points, including nine in the fourth quarter. Andrew Foster added 11 and Brayden Stubbert contributed nine.

Monmouth’s Sammy Calder continued his recent hot streak with a game-high 19 points, while Hayden Fletcher finished with eight.

Both teams shot more than 20 free throws. The Ramblers made 16 of 26, while the Mustangs were 13 for 21.

MT. BLUE 61, MESSALONSKEE 56: Zach Poison scored the team-high 16 points and Evans Sterling followed with 15 in the Cougars’ victory over the Eagles (2-13) in Oakland.

Chandler Briggs scored 10 for Mt. Blue (7-8)

Messalonskee’s Merrick Smith scored the game-high 20 points and teammate Daniel Parent threw in 12.

EDWARD LITTLE 72, CHEVERUS 60: John Shea sank 37 points and went 11-for-14 from the free-throw line to help orchestrate The Red Eddies’ (14-2) victory over Cheverus (7-8) in Portland.

Edward Little maintained a 40-28 lead by halftime and finished down the stretch with an 18-point performance in the fourth quarter.

Pat Anthoine contributed 16 points to EL’s cause and Hamza Sheikh helped out with 10.

Silvano Ismail scored the team-high 18 points and was equally devastating from the free-throw line, going 9-for-10 for Cheverus. Seth Huntington knocked down four 3-pointers and scored 16 points. Giovanni St. One had 12 points.

LEAVITT 79, BELFAST 34: The Hornets (11-5) drained 12 3-pointers as a team in a rout of the Lions (3-13) in Turner.

Sawyer Hathaway connected on four 3s and scored a game-high 14 points, Ian Redstone made three 3s and totaled 11 points, Degan Jordan added a 3-pointer as part of his 11-point effort, and Brett Coburn scored all 12 of his points from inside the arc.

James Ritter led Belfast with eight points.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 60, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 54: William Hallam scored 14 points and Bobby Hallam added 13 as the Raiders (7-9) jumped out to a 19-13 first-quarter lead and held off the Patriots (10-7) at Gray.

Jay Hawkes scored 26 points for Gray-New Gloucester.

RICHMOND 58, RANGELEY 34: Connor Vachon scored a game-high 16 points in the Bobcats’ (7-6) road win over the Lakers (2-8) in Rangeley.

Wyatt Cassidy was right behind with 15 points, including a trio of 3-pointers in the first half.

Chase Carmichael led Rangeley with 11 points and Trevor Dolbier added nine.

CAPE ELIZABETH 68, POLAND 47: Owen Tighe put in 20 points and Will Bowe had 18 to help the Capers (10-7) defeat the Knights (6-10) in Poland.

Hunter Gibson led the Knights with 17 points. Hayden Christener scored 11.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
POLAND 29, CAPE ELIZABETH 20: The Knights (4-11) used a 10-5 fourth quarter run, highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers from Emma Gagne, as they downed the Capers (2-11) at Cape Elizabeth.

Gagne and Gabbi Bolduc had six points apiece to pace a balanced offense for Poland.

Olivia Manning led Cape Elizabeth with 10 points.

OXFORD HILLS 49, BANGOR 48: Sierra Carson dropped in the game-high 19 points and Ella Pelletier contributed 14 points as the Vikings (14-1) eked out a one-point win over the Rams (9-5) in Bangor.

Oxford Hills held a 20-19 edge at halftime and fended off the Rams, who outscored the Vikings 17-11 in the fourth quarter.

Emmie Streams paced Bangor with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Amelia Quinn and Abbie Quinn scored 10 points apiece.

WINTHROP 60, MONMOUTH 27: The Ramblers (9-3) rumbled past the Mustangs (3-7) in a rivalry matchup in Monmouth.

Madeline Wagner made five field goals and five free throws to finish with a game-high 15 points for Winthrop. Maddie Perkins added 14 and Lydia Rice had 10.

Holly Hunt scored 10 points for Monmouth, while Haley DeHahn finished with six.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 38, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 30: Ali Portas scored 10 points and the Patriots (11-5) pulled away in the fourth quarter against the Raiders (3-11) at Fryeburg.

Ellie Steele added nine points and Alyssa Howard finished with seven for the Patriots, who led 25-23 going into the fourth.

Shelby Purslow had nine points for Fryeburg.

RICHMOND 46, RANGELEY 43: Lila Vaselli and Kara Briand combined for 23 points to help direct the Bobcats to a highly-contested win over the Lakers (8-2).

The game was tied at 32-32 going into the fourth quarter before Richmond managed to shake off Rangeley.

The Lakers’ Winnie LaRochelle scored the game-high 18 points and went 9-for-10 at the free-throw line. Emily Eastlack dropped in 17 points.

CHEVERUS 62, EDWARD LITTLE 33: Emma Lizotte and Maddie Fitzpatrick each finished with 18 points as the Stags (14-2) cruised to a win over the Red Eddies (2-14) in Portland.

Emily Bontatibus contributed 11 for Cheverus, which led 20-5 after one quarter and 38-13 at halftime.

Rachel Penny scored nine points for Edward Little.

TELSTAR 62, WISCASSET 31: Morgan Zetts scored 40 points in the Rebels’ (4-11) win over the Wolverines (0-10) in Bethel.

Zetts has had the hot hand in Telstar’s three February, games. She scored a game-high 16 points in a two-point loss to Oak Hill on Feb. 1 and then 17 in a win over Buckfield the following day.

Bella Orr had eight points for Wiscasset and Laila Disus had seven points.

LEWISTON 1, CHEVERUS/OLD ORCHARD BEACH/KENNEBUNK/WINDHAM 0: Leah Landry’s goal 2:47 into overtime gave the Blue Devils (14-2) a win over Cheverus/Old Orchard Beach/Kennebunk/Windham (12-4-1) at Troubh Ice Arena in Portland.

Charlotte Cloutier had the assist on Landry’s overtime goal.

Lewiston goalie Kim McLaughlin made 16 saves. Ella Lemieux stopped 25 shots for the Stags.

LAKE REGION/FRYEBURG/OXFORD HILLS 4, MARSHWOOD/TRAIP/SANFORD/NOBLE 1: Noah Grant made 23 saves for Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills (10-3) in a win over Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble (5-8-1) at Dover, New Hampshire.

Caleb Micklon, Myles Garland, Jacob Lemery and Owen Galligan scored, and Kaden Neureuther and Wyatt Knightly each had a pair of assists for the Ice Cats.

Caden Fontaine scored for the Knighthawks.

LEWISTON 4, SOUTH PORTLAND/FREEPORT/WAYNFLETE 2: Tanner Anctil scored twice in the Blue Devils’ (7-6) win over the Red Riots (8-3) at Troubh Arena in Portland.

Colton Daniels and Evan Knowlton also scored for Lewiston.

Cullin Adams had a goal and an assist for the Red Riots and Ian Wright had a goal in the loss.

Ben Cloutier made 26 saves in the win and Jasper Curtis stopped 30 shots for the Red Riots.
