With January being Human Trafficking Awareness Month, advocates from Safe Voices are scheduled to talk from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St.
They will provide information on what human trafficking is, whether it happens in Maine, what its indicators are, and what people can one do if they suspects someone is being trafficked.
Safe Voices is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 1977.
Its mission is to support and empower those affected by domestic violence and engage local communities in creating social change, according to a news release from the library.
It also is part of a collaborative team of agencies addressing the issue of human trafficking in Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties, providing advocacy, support, assistance and education on the topic.
The library is partnering with the organization to increase awareness on the issue of human trafficking.
