Should the U.S. mark the anniversary of the Jan. 6 insurrection?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is planning a host of events on Jan. 6, 2022 to recognize the one-year anniversary of the insurrection, during which a pro-Trump mob stormed to Capitol building in an attempt to stop the confirmation of President Biden’s electoral college win.
But there’s some trepidation. Sen. Susan Collins told the HuffPost: “I just think that day is too freighted with anxiety and anger and it would just be better if we did not have any sort of ‘anniversary’ of that day.”
