There is a new ice skating rink in Bethel. It is located at the old Ethel Bisbee School on Philbrick Street. On behalf of the Bethel Recreation Committee, they are soliciting donated ice skates. Any size would be welcomed. If you have ice skates you would like to donate, they can be dropped off at Philbrick Place, located at the lower end of Main Street. Ice skating will once again be a winter activity available for folks to enjoy.
There is also a new restaurant opening up in Bethel. Le Mu Eats is located on Main Street in the former Cafe DiCocoa building. They plan on a soft opening Christmas week while they get up and running. Steam Mill Brewery also opened up at their new location at 96 Sunday River Road. Exciting to see new businesses in our community.
‘Soup’s On!’, an event recently held at the Methodist Church, once again had some wonderful soups, breads, and desserts. Kate Goldberg made turnip soup. Salmon chowder was made by Sue Lowe. Linda McDonough made a vegetable soup. Wally Ritz made taco soup and Jim Klesitz provided the clam chowder. Many soups were delivered to seniors living in our community. This event is a way to reach out to seniors who enjoy the personal contact and delicious meal.
My granddaughter, Willow Raye, recently turned 7 years old. She had an outside birthday party where the star attraction was a horse named Zeus. Riding it was a highlight of the party and something she will never forget.
Time to stock up on milk, eggs, bread, and fresh produce. The vacation week is starting up and we will have lots of visitors coming to Bethel. The Bethel Foodliner will be a busy place, so plan accordingly. The skiways, restaurants, shops, gas stations, and lodging facilities should have a busy week. Let’s hope everyone will be able to keep up with the pace.
Christmas is a time for family and friends to gather. Christians around the world will be celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas to one and all!
