100 Years Ago: 1921
The Lewiston Chamber of Commerce will appropriate a sum of money to be used jointly with that appropriated by the city for the purpose of organizing a public skating rink, it was announced today. The need of municipal skating rinks that are properly constructed and are safe is especially necessary — with the temptation for skating on the river, which is many times not safe.
50 Years Ago: 1971
The Spanish Fleas, a group of Lewiston High School students who became a “group” while still in junior high school, are among the performers taking part in the Auburn Community Band’s Christmas concert being presented tonight at Central School Auditorium. Another group of young people at the McMahon School in Lewiston will present choral numbers. The group includes, Chris Harkins and Angelo Palange, Mario DeSanctis, Ann Charpentier, Carol Stevens, Paul LeCompte and Paul O’Brien.
25 Years Ago: 1996
Shirley Miller will present a sermon titled “Do You See What I See?” at the South Paris Universalist Church on Sunday, at 10 a.m. Also featured at the service will be musicians Raymond Neimi and Jacob Allen, who will play a selection of Christmas music on the trumpet and pipe organ.
