SKOWHEGAN — A 31-year-old man was charged this week after he fled from police who wanted to question him about a burglary, according to officials.
David McGregor Jr. of Skowhegan was charged with failure to stop for a law enforcement officer and refusing to submit to arrest.
Shannon Moss, spokeswoman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said that at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, a state trooper “learned that a burglary suspect might be at a residence off of Parkman Hill Road in Skowhegan.”
When the trooper attempted to speak with McGregor, the suspect fled into nearby woods and a foot chase ensued, Moss said.
“Other assets were called in to help locate McGregor,” Moss wrote in an email.
The assistance included two Maine State Police canines, Skowhegan police and the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
McGregor was located at about 5 p.m. and taken into custody. He was taken to the Somerset County Jail in Madison.
McGregor had warrants for his arrest prior to Tuesday’s chase, according to Moss.
