At their 11/1/21 meeting, Board of Selectmen were asked by a Rangeley resident to reach out to the Feds to determine if they have intel to share that would reveal violations of the Code of Ethics and Conduct or the defrauding of citizen’s rights to honest service by other town officials or employees.
The Rangeley Board of Selectmen’s 11/1/21 meeting resulted in a vote to continue the public hearing on the dangerous building located at 124 Carry Road for 2 weeks. The selectmen approved an order for 60 days to allow the safe and sanitary cleanup of that site.
An event permit was issued for the 34th Annual Giving Tree Lighting for 11/27/21.
Kayla Alexander was appointed to the school board to fill the seat vacated by J. Bottcher who resigned.
A Loon Lake Road payment to E.L.Vining was approved for the recently completed base coat pavement work.
The fire department was authorized to apply for a grant that could provide 3 new snowmobiles and a trailer.
Two proposals for legal services were received and will be discussed along with the TIF (Tax Increment Financing) policy at the next BOS meeting scheduled for 11/15/21.
The unimproved middle section of the Dorsett Road has caused emergency response issues. For E911 clarity the portion accessed by Proctor Road will be called East Dorsett Road and the portion accessed by the Alpine Acres Road will be called West Dorsett Road. The new access road to the fish hatchery in Oquossoc that leaves from Route 16 will have an E911 name of Salmon Road. The bridge over the Rangeley River that provided access to the hatchery has been removed.
Dirigo Solar was issued a building permit for a 12 acre solar array at 204 Pleasant Street in August 2020. They applied for and were issued a one time a month permit extension in August 2021. The project has been delayed by a series of appeals filed by abutting property owner Lucas Sirois of 42 Village Woods Drive. Mr. Sirois has filed an appeal with the Maine Law Court which is a process that last more than 6 months.
A judge recently awarded Dirigo Solar a stay which will prevent the 6 month permit extension clock from starting until the appeal process concludes.
The second public workshop on Chapter 38, Rangeley’s Zoning Ordinance is scheduled for November 22 from 6-8pm at the town office.
A quarterly meeting follow-up between the plantations and the town of Rangeley will be November 17 at 6pm at the Dallas Plantation office.
