NEWRY — Residents voted 112-58 Tuesday to amend the town development review ordinance to conform to state laws and practices.
“The Planning Board worked with the (code enforcement officer) and town planner to make updates to the (Unified Development Review Ordinance) to comply with updated state laws and practices,” Town Administrator Amy L. Bernard said.
• On Question 1 regarding the CMP transmission corridor, the vote was 107 yes and 74 no.
• Question 2 on securing bonds for infrastructure upgrades was favored 129-52.
• And Question 3 on the right of individuals to grow and harvest food for their own consumption, the tally was 112 yes and 58 no.
“Today’s voting went very smoothly with a much higher turnout than expected,” Bernard said.
