FRYEBURG — No. 5 Leavitt (13-3) jumped out to an early two-goal lead and held on to a 3-2 win over No. 4 Fryeburg Academy (10-6) in a Class B South field hockey quarterfinal on Thursday.
Maddie Morin and Megan Nason both scored first-quarter goals, with Eve Martineau assisting on each, to stake Leavitt to a 2-0 lead. Fryeburg’s Camden Jones scored off a penalty corner as time expired in the second quarter to make it a 2-1 game at halftime.
Leavitt’s Emma Beedy (from Keriah Marston) and Fryeburg’s Olivia Towne traded fourth-quarter goals.
Leavitt’s Paige DeMascio and Fryeburg’s Eden Voter each made seven saves.
GIRLS SOCCER
OLD ORCHARD BEACH 3, OAK HILL 1: Elise MacNair scored two goals and assisted on the other to send the No. 7 Seagulls (11-5) past the No. 2 Raiders (12-1) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Wales.
MacNair’s corner kick four minutes into the game was put into the back of the net by Alaynah LeBlond. MacNair then scored her first goal five minutes later, with an assist from Sarah Davis.
Elise Worth cut the Raiders’ deficit to 2-1 early in the second half before MacNair put the game away on a breakaway.
OOB goalie Summer St. Louis and Oak Hill goalie Paige Gonya both made four saves.
TRAIP ACADEMY 3, MONMOUTH/WINTHROP 0: Keira Alessi scored two first-half goals and the fourth-seeded Rangers (11-5) beat the No. 5 Mustangs (9-4-1) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Kittery.
Molly Sawtelle had an unassist goal in the second half for Traip Academy, which advances to play No. 8 Waynflete in the semifinals. Noelle Denholm and Brinley Seward each had an assist.
June Foyt had six saves for Monmouth/Winthrop, while Olivia O’Leary stopped all four shots she faced for Traip Academy.
BRUNSWICK 4, MT. BLUE 0: Alexis Morin scored a pair of goals and Mia Klimash and Riley McAllaster each add one in the No. 3 Dragons’ (14-2) win over the No. 6 Cougars (9-4-1) in a Class A North quarterfinal game in Brunswick.
Logan Brown collected two assists and Molly Taub had one. Brunswick goalie Brunswick Sophia Morin made four saves. Mt. Blue goalie Caitlyn Burke stopped six shots.
