NEW GLOUCESTER — A local woman was injured Saturday when her car went off Snow Hill Road and slammed into a tree, police said.
Tasha Dostie, 50, was driving her 2002 Volkswagen Beetle at about 2:22 p.m. when the car left the roadway. When she overcorrected, her car went into a sideways spin and struck a tree, according to a media statement issued by Maine Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Shannon Moss.
No other vehicles were involved.
Firefighters from New Gloucester Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extricate Dostie from her car, Moss said.
That portion of the road was closed to traffic, but was reopened about 15 minutes later, Moss said.
Dostie was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Moss said.
An investigation into the crash “showed speed was a factor,” Moss said.
