JAY — Camden Phillips opened the scoring with a 2-yard run in the first quarter and then hooked up twice with Elie Timler for touchdown passes in the second quarter as third-seeded Spruce Mountain beat sixth-seeded Yarmouth 52-12 in an eight-man football Large School South quarterfinal on Friday.

Reece Davis returned the second-half kickoff 80 yards for a score, then added two long TD runs — 54 and 85 yards — for the Phoenix (6-2).

Jackson Delfini had a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second quarter for the Clippers (1-7), who trailed 24-12 at halftime.

THORNTON ACADEMY 42, EDWARD LITTLE 14: Jack Emerson contributed through the air and on the ground for the Trojans (8-0) as they defeated the Red Eddies (0-8) in Auburn.

A 45-yard pass from Emerson to Isaiah Jones put Thornton up 14-0 late in the first quarter, and a long run by Emerson set up a short touchdown pass to Bryant Nsengiyumva. Alex St. John and Hayden Whitney ran for scores from 59 and 79 yards and Anthony Jones returned a punt 45 yards for a score.

Edward Little quarterback Jack Keefe connected with Hunter LaChance for a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns.

PORTLAND 42, LEWISTON 0: Brandon Boyle opened the scoring with a 70-yard punt return in the first quarter, and the Bulldogs (8-0) forced five turnovers in a win over the Blue Devils (1-7) at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Boyle added two touchdown runs and finished with 310 all-purpose yards. Grant Crosby passed for two touchdowns — 19 yards to Nathan Isajar and 72 yards to Reegan Buck.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 58, BOOTHBAY 22: Robert Leveillee intercepted five passes, returning two for touchdowns, and on offense added three more touchdowns in the Falcons’ (3-3) eight-man Small School South quarterfinal win over the Seahawks (3-5) in Rumford.

Airick Richard added two interceptions on defense, returning one for a touchdown, and added another score on offense. Kaden Paaso scored two TDs and Jonah Byam caught a TD pass.

DIRIGO 57, SACOPEE VALLEY 28: The Cougars scored 22 points in the second quarter to pull away from the Hawks in a eight-man Small School quarterfinal in Dixfield.

Dirigo quarterback Charlie Houghton scored four touchdowns and backup QB Trent Holman came off the bench and tallied three touchdowns. Curtis Errington had two touchdowns runs, one 22 yards and the other 55 yards.

Sacopee Valley took a 14-13 lead into the second quarter before being outscored 44-14 the remainder of the game.

Dirigo, the No. 2 seed, and No. 3 Mountain Valley will meet in the semifinals next week.
