JAY — The Telstar High School Lady Rebels continued their win streak, running the season record to 4-5 after defeating the Spruce Mountain Phoenix. The Rebels, playing a road game, had several players injured and only played ten players. Despite the shorthanded roster, the Rebels managed a 2-1 victory.
Goalie Morgan Zetts kept the Rebels in the game early by making two diving stops on sure goals. Molly Pereira, Katie Evans, Gabby Thompson, and Mae Hoff kept the home team Phoenix at bay by working a defensive off-side trap. Makenzie Eliot got the Rebels on the board just before halftime, assisted by Macie Hallett. Haley Smith scored early in the second half on a pass from Makenzie Eliot off a direct kick.
Spruce Mountain scored, cutting the lead in half. The Rebels managed to hang on for the win, with solid midfield help from Freshmen Lily Souther and Jocelyn Nivus.
