JAY — Haley Smith’s goal early in the second half provided enough insurance for Telstar to hold on against Spruce Mountain for a 2-1 MVC girls soccer victory Tuesday.
Makenzie Elliott put the Rebels (3-6) up 1-0 in the first half on an assist from Macie Hallett.
Ava Moffett cut the deficit in half for the Phoenix (2-9) midway through the second half. Emma Towers made five saves in goal for Spruce Mountain.
OAK HILL 3, BUCKFIELD 0: Gabrielle Chessie scored a pair of goals in the second half to help push the Raiders (6-0) past the Bucks (5-4-1) in Buckfield.
Jasmyne Strout also scored for Oak Hill, which was tied 0-0 at halftime, and Amara Denis had an assist. Paige Gonya made six saves in the shutout.
Ruby Cyr stopped 12 shots for Buckfield.
WAYNFLETE 2, ST. DOMINIC 0: Lucy Hart scored twice in the Flyers’ (5-4) win over the Saints (2-7) in Portland.
Vivienne Cook added an assist for Waynflete. Jesse Connors had two saves.
Anna Theriault had 13 saves for St. Dom’s.
WELLS 3, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Emma Badger scored twice as the Warriors (5-4-1) got ahead of the Patriots (3-7) and held onto the road win in Gray.
Grace Boucher also scored for Wells, Ava Tavares had an assist and Mia Pasciuto (three saves) and Savannah Tardiff (one) split time in goal.
Ashleen Perkins scored from Brooke Martin in the second half for Gray-NG, and Isa Ross made four saves.
BOYS SOCCER
LAKE REGION 7, POLAND 3: Jacob Chadbourn scored five goals as the Lakers (3-6) pulled away from the Knights (1-8) in Naples.
Braden Coyne added two goals for Lake Region, which led 4-2 at halftime.
Drew Sayler had a pair of goals for Poland and Talen Langevin scored the other.
VALLEY 2, RANGELEY 1: Anthony Whittier scored off an assist from Chase Carmichael in the second half to cut the deficit in half, but it wasn’t enough as the host Lakers (3-4-1) fell to the Cavaliers (2-6) in Rangeley.
Rangeley outshot Valley 32-14, but “the goals just didn’t go our way tonight,” Rangeley coach Rowenna Hathaway said.
WAYNFLETE 9, ST. DOMINIC 0: The Flyers (7-1-1) scored four goals in the first half and cruised to a win over the Saints (1-7) in Portland.
Samir Sayed, Dudley Holdridge, Henry Hart, Oscar Herrera, Matt Adey, Liam Slocumb and Payton Smith all scored a goal for Waynflete.
Connor Cyr stopped 13 shots for St. Dominic, while Lincoln Smith recorded three saves for the shutout.
FIELD HOCKEY
OXFORD HILLS 2, CONY 0: Sierra Carson scored a pair of fourth-quarter goals to lift the Vikings (8-4) to a win over the Rams (6-5) in Augusta.
Chloe Estes assisted on the first goal for Oxford Hills and Gabby Wright made 10 saves.
Taylor Prebit stopped four shots for Cony.
ST. DOMINIC 6, WELLS 0: Julianne Cook had a hat trick in the Saints’ (9-0) win over the Warriors (2-4-2) in Wells.
Ellie Russell also had a goal for St. Dom’s, and Isabella Pelletier and Kathleen Dean had assists. Pilar Hewey made three saves in the win.
BRUNSWICK 1, LEWISTON 0: Sara Coughlin scored in the third quarter to break the tie and lift the Dragons (6-4-2) past the Blue Devils (6-5-1) in Brunswick.
Kiki Densmore assisted on the goal for Brunswick, which got one save from goalie Ahavah Burch.
Lewiston goalie Kimberley McLaughlin made nine saves.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 3, SACOPEE VALLEY 2, 2OT: Teada Chem scored in the second overtime with an assist from Cady Kluck as the Patriots (3-7) beat the Hawks (2-7-1) in Hiram.
Olivia Knudsen scored twice with an assist on each from Teada Chem. Lorenza Piper had five saves.
Lea Dole and Addie Lajoie scored for Sacopee Valley. Amber Barrett stopped eight shots for the Hawks.
