Taxes are due on Sunday, which means a rush the day before. But city officials are prepared to make the most of it with an open house. The Auburn City Building will be open 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, for anyone waiting until the last minute to pay taxes. But taxes don’t need to be due to have a reason to drop by. “People this time of year come in and pay their taxes and think ‘Well, what exactly do I get for my taxes?’ This might be a good time to give them an idea” said City Manager Patricia A. Finnigan. Several city offices will be fully operational Saturday, open to any residents wanting to register a vehicle, license a dog. register to vote or get a hunting license. In addition, city staff will be on hand to answer questions, give tours and talk informally with taxpayers.
