AUBURN — After success across the board with events throughout the summer, Maine Mini Golf Tour is pleased to announce the return of a favorite event from last season.

Maine Mini Golf Tour and Taber’s Restaurant and Minigolf are proud to announce the return of the Fall Classic, which this year will be contested on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Tabers on Lakeshore Drive in Auburn.

A year ago, Mark “Highlighter” Novicki of Connecticut ran out to a two-round lead and held off a hard-charging Dan Brochu in the final round to earn the inaugural Fall Classic crown.

Maine Mini Golf Tour is also pleased to announce that this year’s event will feature the same prize payout as last year’s event, with $300 to the champion, $200 to second place, $100 to third, $50 to fourth and $25 to fifth. Golfers will compete for additional prizes — for most holes in one, lowest single round and the first hole-in-one on the tough-as-nails 10th hole, among others.

Additionally, all competitors will receive a specialty golf ball to commemorate the experience, and coffee and donuts will be available from 45 minutes before play begins.

Rules for the tournament will remain the same as last year, with golfers playing in self-scoring, random three person groups for the first two rounds (Depending on entries, there may be a shotgun start). For the final round, scores will be tabulated, and golfers will all begin in groups of three off the first tee, in reverse order of scores, worst to best.
