100 Years Ago: 1921
An order was passed by the Governor and Council today authorizing the State Highway Commission to commission state highway supervisors as State Police, in accordance with Section 25 of Chapter 21 of the public laws of 1921. The supervisors would receive no additional pay, but it is thought that a commission might be of advantage to them in some instances.
50 Years Ago: 1971
The Auburn Extension Group which holds its first meeting of the season on Tuesday. Sept. 14 at the Square and Compass Club, Elm Street, Auburn announced their new schedule. The first meeting is an open house and will feature a program in liquid embroidery. Mrs. Alice Hayden and Mrs. Debbie Rybeck are in charge of the smorgasbord luncheon.
25 Years Ago: 1996
Tom Rowe of Schooner Fare will perform at the Norway Unitarian-Universalist Church on Sunday, Sept. 8. at 7 pm. For the past 20 years he has recorded and toured with Schooner Fare and is also doing some concerts and working on an album with his son Dave. The album is due to be released this month.
