AUBURN — The Maine Music Society plans to hold auditions for the 2021-22 season on Thursday, Sept. 2. Interested singers should email the new artistic director, Richard Nickerson at rgnickerson@gmail.com. Include a brief statement about previous choral experience, if applicable. No experience is required. Note that society singers must be fully vaccinated.
Auditions for the Maine Music Society Chorale will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 78 Pleasant St.
For more information, visit mainemusicsociety.org. Additional times are available by contacting the artistic director.
Auditions will be in person and scheduled in advance. There is nothing to prepare ahead of time. Those who audition will be asked to sing ascending and descending scales to assess your vocal range. They also will be asked to sing some melodic patterns played on the piano. They may be asked to make some adjustments. The overall purpose of the audition is to assess skills to ensure that all singers are placed in the appropriate section.
