DENMARK — A Boston theatre ensemble, Liars & Believers, is to conduct a puppet camp for youths aged 7 to 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday to Friday, Aug. 11-13.
The camp is set to be held in Bicentennial Park, on West Main Street. Campers can learn the fundamentals of puppetry, improvisation and clowning.
Campers over three days can learn some of the basic skills needed to be a creative and fun theatre artist. Each day there will be classes in improvisation (to learn how to think on one’s feet and make up something out of nothing), puppetry (to learn how to bring inanimate objects to life), and clowning (to discover one’s most simple, honest, and silliest self).
Those who attend will not only develop new skills, but be sent home with their own puppet and a clown nose.
Campers are asked to bring appropriate clothing for being outside throughout camp, rain or shine. People are asked to bring snacks, water, and lunch, plus sunscreen and bug spray.
To register, visit denmarkarts.org/events or call 207-452-2412.
Because of the generosity of the Kendal C. & Anna Ham Charitable Foundation, Maine Bicentennial Commission, Davis Family Foundation, and town of Denmark, children’s camps are free this summer.
The center will follow CDC guidelines for outdoor events.
