100 Years Ago: 1921
Members of the Kappa Beta Sigma Club of E.L.H.S , who have been at a house party at a camp on Tripp Pond have returned to Auburn. Misses Maud Huskin and Jessie Alley, both Edward Little instructors, were chaperones. Those in the party were Misses Mary Conant, Thelma Everett, Betsy Jordan, Celeste Lombard, Norrine Hall, Olive Norris, Lucy Lombard and Isabel Alton.
50 Years Ago: 1971
The old Virginia School and property was purchased by bid by the town of Rumford. The original structure of the school, two rooms on two floors, was built In 1886. In 1904, another two rooms were added, with two more in 1911 and the final two rooms in 1921 and then the school was closed in 1957. Also on the property is a five room house. J. Eugene Boivin, purchaser for the town of Rumford, was given 90 days to take down the condemned building.

Wednesdays in the Park continues its series Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Great Falls Plaza in Auburn with Dan Grady’s Magnificent Marionette Medley, a fast-paced marionette variety show. This production consists of an array of routines performed with marionettes by master puppeteer Dan Grady. Grady has spent the last 16 years touring schools, libraries and recreation departments around New England. In addition to his performance abilities, Grady has designed and crafted all the marionettes that are utilized in this production.
