OTISFIELD — Voters will be asked to vote on a $2.04 million municipal budget at Otisfield’s annual town meeting Saturday.

The meeting will start at 9 a.m. at the Community Hall on Route 121.

The 26-article warrant also includes election of a selectman, school board director to SAD 17 and road commissioner.

Select Board Chairman Hal Ferguson and SAD 17 Director Kristin Roy’s three-year terms are set to expire this year.

Voters will select a new road commissioner to serve a one-year term. Richard Bean, Sr., Otisfield’s commissioner for the last 50 years, passed away in April. Article 16 of the town meeting warrant will ask voters to change the role from an elected to selectmen-appointed position in June, 2022.

Employee benefits expenses are expected to drop from $235,000 in 2020 to $196,000 this year. Public safety and cemeteries expenses will increase from $167,178 to $176,807.

The Public Works budget is $1,059,125, with both the finance committee and selectmen recommending that $100,000 of it be covered by transferring funds from the Sybil Lamb Trust.

Voters will also be asked to approve using $10,997.81 in the Rescue Assistance Reserve account to outfit the fire department’s recently acquired forestry truck.

There is one article containing changes to Otisfield’s building ordinance – to remove the requirement and language “all new residential dwellings with outside home heating oil tanks must have self-containment” and “all replacement tanks within existing dwellings must have self-containment.”
