Elly Beckerman, a Bates College student from Washington, D.C., pauses Monday on the college’s quad to introduce herself to Sophie Gower and her father, Jeff, of Concord, Massachusetts. As of Monday morning, Bates has opened its campus to visitors for the first time since March 2020. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Lewiston college has limited tours to one guide for each visiting family.
