The Spofford Literary Club of Bates College held its regular Tuesday meeting in Libby Forum this week. A report from the treasurer on the results of the Spofford Night program gave the members some basis for feeling a better financial security, and in the moments of optimism which followed plans were discussed for the annual spring Spofford club party. A committee of three, Dwight E. Libby ’22 of West Poland, Miss Constance Walker ’22 of Bridgton, and Harold J. Manter ’23 of Anson, were elected to make the necessary arrangements for the party. The literary program was furnished by two of the latest members, Herbert J. Carroll ’22 of Cyrus, Mass., read an excellent story about gambling and Miss Helen Waddell ’23 of Florida, N.Y., read a very interesting tale of “The Meat Baby.” A vote of thanks was extended to Mrs. Fred B. Pomeroy for her services in coaching the plays for Spofford Night.
