TURNER — Leavitt scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to come back and earn an 11-10 win a softball contest against Mt. Blue on Monday.
After the Cougars (0-2) scored four in the top of the seventh to take a 10-9 lead, the Hornets (1-0) tied it at 10-10 in the bottom half of the inning when Maddy Dutil scored from first on a Sarah Perkins double. Then, Perkins scored the game-wining run on a Sam DeBlois. Pitcher Kira Welch earned the victory for Leavitt.
Mt. Blue was resilient, coming back and taking the lead multiple times before eventually falling to the Hornets. Eva Stevens notched two doubles and Katy Yeaton tallied three RBIs. Makala Gross took the loss for Mt. Blue as both teams’ pitchers went the full seven innings.
DIRIGO 14, LISBON 2: Dirigo scored early and often in its softball win over Lisbon in softball in Dixfield.
Alyvia Perreault notched four hits and Alexa Perreault tallied three in the win for Dirigo. Pitcher Grace Robbins earned the victory, giving up just two runs and striking out seven.
Lisbon’s Erica Hill took the loss for the Greyhounds, but had two runs batted in at the plate.
EDWARD LITTLE 12, CONY 8: Edward Little scored 11 runs in the third inning on the way to a 12-8 victory over Cony at home on Monday.
Izzy Jalbert hit a grand slam in the third inning to give Edward Little a 5-2 lead during the Red Eddies’ 11-run inning. Cony scored five in the seventh inning but its comeback bid fell short.
Leah Thibodeau, who pitched and earned the win, also hit a home run for EL. Hannah Smith and Jalbert each notched three hits.
Cony’s Madison Hodgdon hit one of her three singles in the second inning and scored on a RBI double by Haylee Cyr.
MONMOUTH 12, BUCKFIELD 6: Monmouth scored half-dozen runs in the final inning to secure a 12-6 softball win over Buckfield in Buckfield
Tied 5-5, Monmouth scored six in the seventh to pull away from the Bucks. Brooklyn Federico went 3-for-6 with a double for Mustangs.
Buckfield’s McKenna Ridlon had two doubles.
BASEBALL
EDWARD LITTLE 9, CONY 6: Clay Robbins pitched six innings striking out 10 and allowing four hits in the Red Eddies’ victory over the Rams in Auburn.
Edward Little’s Campbell Cassidy earned the save after entering the game in the seventh inning and striking out two. He also had a double at the plate.
Colin Merritt had a pair of hits and two runs batted in for the Red Eddies (1-0). Chase Martin also had two hits, including a double, while Jack Keefe and Will Cassidy had two hits.
Kyle Douin had a three-run homer for the Rams (1-1). He and Bobby Stolt each had two hits.
MONMOUTH 13, BUCKFIELD 2: Owen Harding had two hits and drove in a pair of runs to lead the Mustangs to the MVC victory in Monmouth.
Sam Calder had three hits for Monmouth while Hayden Fletcher added a pair.
MT. ABRAM 11, TELSTAR 1: Gabe Emery and Adam Luce combine on the mound to give up just one hit in Mt. Abram’s 11-1 win over Telstar on Monday.
Mt. Abram (4-0) had eight players tally a hit on offense and five record an RBI. Emery pitched 2 2/3 innings of one-hit ball, which was followed by 2 1/3 innings of no-hit ball by Luce. Tucker Plouffe and Trevor Phelps both notched two RBIs a piece in the victory.
Telstar’s Cain Shizer took the loss, striking out three and giving up eight hits.
WINTHROP 18, HALL-DALE 1: Tyler Shumway smacked two doubles to lead the Ramblers to a five-inning victory over the Bulldogs in Farmingdale.
Logan Baird and Garrison Melendy each had two hits for Winthrop (1-0), while Colby Emery had a triple.
Hall-Dale falls to 1-2.
GIRLS LACROSSE
LAWRENCE 14, MT. BLUE 2: Kaylyn Bourque scored four goals as the Bulldogs evened their record at home.
Sarah Townsend added three goals for Lawrence (1-1), while Holly Bolduc and Amy Boyce each scored two. Emily Hersey made seven saves in the win.
