SOFTBALL

MONMOUTH — Katie Laliberte had three hits while driving in two runs to lead Monmouth to an 11-6 win over Telstar in MVC softball action Friday.

Brooklyn Federico had two hits, and also struck out six in the circle. The Mustangs (2-1) broke open the game with a seven-run third inning.

Tasha Mason had a triple among two hits for the Rebels.

OAK HILL 9, MT. ABRAM 6: The Raiders’ big fifth inning catapulted Oak Hill to a come-from-behind MVC victory at Strong.

Trailing 5-3 after four innings, Oak Hill rallied together four runs en route to the win.

Oak Hill pitcher Kelsey Young took the win with nine strikeouts, while teammate Madison Castonguay notched two singles in the win.

Mt. Abram’s Riley Monahan struck out five batters in the loss. Edilia Stinchfield hit a home run for the Roadrunners.

LAKE REGION, POLAND SPLIT: Lyla Levesque scored the go-ahead run on an error in the sixth inning as Lake Region (1-1) rallied for a 6-5 win and a doubleheader split at Poland (2-1).

In Game 1, Poland scored five runs in the sixth inning to take a 7-5 victory. Emma Bunyea hit two doubles and knocked in three runs, and Kaylin O’Leary and also had a double for the Knights.

Levesque, Emily Rock and Sadie Tirrell each had two hits for the Lakers in Game 1.

SKOWHEGAN 12, MT. BLUE 0, 6 innings: Emily Dunbar smacked two doubles and had three RBIS to lead the River Hawks to a win over the Cougars in Skowhegan.

Riley Fitzpatrick had two hits, including a double and three RBIs for Skowhegan (2-0), while Annebelle Morris and Jaycie Christopher each added two hits.

Mt. Blue starts the season off 0-1.

BASEBALL

LAKE REGION, POLAND SPLIT: Winning pitcher Dylan Sellinger keyed a four-run fourth inning with a two-run double as Poland (1-1) rallied for a 6-4 win and a doubleheader split against visiting Lake Region (1-1).

Sellinger pitched four innings and struck out three.

Jacob Smith and Logan David each had a double for Lake Region.

In Game 1, Hayden Trembley went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI, and Lake Region overcame an early 3-0 deficit in a 10-4 victory.

Brady Sandberg was the winning pitcher.

Poland’s Mitchell Bean took the loss but notched three hits. Teammate Brody Keefe hit a double and drove in two runs.

SKOWHEGAN 7, MT. BLUE 4: Tyler Annis tripled and scored three runs, and Camden Green struck out 11 while allowing three hits in five innings to lift the River Hawks to the victory in Skowhegan.

Mason Kelso had a double and drove in two runs for Skowhegan. Gage Morgan had two hits while scoring and driving in a run.

Jackson Joyce and Evan Downing had two hits apiece for the Cougars, while Aiden Decarolis drove in two runs.

CONY 10, LEAVITT 2: A five-run third boosted the Rams to a KVAC win at Augusta.

Cony led 2-1 heading to the bottom of the third before the big inning gave the Rams control of the contest.

Isaac Gammon and Brayden Barbeau each had two singles, Bobby Stolt earned the win on the mound, and Kyle and Cam Douin closed out the game.

Matt Wallingford and Denver Taylor pitched for the Hornets, with Wallingford getting the start and the loss.

GIRLS LACROSSE

CONY 10, OXFORD HILLS 6: Sierra Clark scored six goals and had an assist to lead the Rams to a victory over the Vikings in Augusta.

Maci Freeman had a goal and an assist for Cony (2-0), while Dinah Wadleigh, Andrea Richardson and Raegan Bechard each added goals. Kiara Henry had eight draw controls for the Rams.

Molly Littlefield and Kelsey Bennett each scored two goals for Oxford Hills (0-1).

LAKE REGION 15, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/POLAND 0: Gwen Gagnon scored four goals, and Katie Keenan and Shauna Hancock finished with two apiece as the Lakers (1-1) downed the 26ers (1-1) in Gray.

Leah Brogan, Rebecca Caron, Abigail Elsaesser, Olivia England, Rachel Lake, Ashley Pelliter, Mackenzie Siebert also scored.

Mackenzie Baston made 21 saves and Ellie Steele had eight ground balls for the 26ers.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 6, LAKE REGION 2: The Patriots (2-0) were paced by Ben Pierce with four goals as they downed the Lakers (1-1) in Gray.

Matt Gilman and Nick Stanley chipped in a goal apiece. Sam Tibbetts made eight saves.

BOYS TENNIS

YARMOUTH 5, LEWISTON 0: The Clippers swept the Blue Devils to open the season at Yarmouth.

William Best, Asher Lockwood and Jason Hall of Yarmouth (1-0) swept their single matches without losing a set, while Yarmouth doubles groups Sutter Augur and Miles Hagedorn, as well as Andi Gobag and Milo Sanakliss, won their matches without losing a single game.

Lewiston’s (0-1) No. 1 singles player Garrett Mack and No. 2 singles player Jason Hall were the only Blue Devils to take a game from the Clippers, with each doing so in their respective first sets.

LISBON 3, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 2: The Greyhounds swept the doubles matches and defeated the Falcons in Rumford.

Dustin Verril and Elijah Benson defeated Nate Gallant and Caleb Gamache of Mountain Valley 6-2, 6-3. Lisbon’s second doubles team, Nate Brantley and Cameron Geiger, won in three sets, while Ryan Lebel secured the Lisbon team win in his No. 1 singles match.

Levon Mikercitz and Colby Frisbee of Mountain Valley both won their single matches in straight sets.

JV SOFTBALL

Oxford Hills defeated Leavitt 20-4 in junior varsity softball on Friday. Zaya Vollmar struck out four batters, allowing just two hits and one earned run. Vollmar also notched five hits, including two doubles, and scored four times. Lauren Morse and Brynn Bean both tallied a double for the Vikings.
