REGION — Here are some of the Easter celebrations happening around Oxford Hills.
Churches
Congregational,
United Church of Christ
Statement: Second Congregational Church, UCC, Norway wishes our community a happy, healthy Easter and invites you to join us online as we celebrate this Holy Week. While our sanctuary remains closed to in-person services, we continue to “Be the Church” and are finding ways to stay connected with online services that include all aspects of an in-person worship service. We are looking forward to being able to worship together again in-person soon.
Norway’s Second Congregational Church will not hold in-person services for Easter but has scheduled online services.
The church is hosting a Maundy Thursday service via ZOOM on April 1 at 7 p.m. Communion will be offered during the service.
Easter Service will be available on Facebook at 10a.m. on Sunday, April 4, 2021. All are welcome.
A Children’s time will be offered with Pastor Sharon Rankin on Easter as part of the church’s taped online services.

Episcopal
Christ Episcopal Church in Norway is holding daily livestream/ZOOM services during Holy Week. The full schedule and video stream can be found on their Facebook page or website: www.christchurchnorway.
Easter will be celebrated outside, socially distanced and with masks, in the neighborhood where several parishioners live. For those still not ready to be in person, the regular weekly Zoom worship service will be offered (at an earlier time, 10:15), which will be livestreamed via Facebook.
Statement: It has been a long year of worshiping from home via a screen; we are very excited to have an opportunity to be together, even as we follow COVID precautions to protect those who haven’t been fully vaccinated yet. Easter celebrates God’s love and grace, promising that suffering and death doesn’t get the last word. We are offered forgiveness for the mistakes of our past, and a new start. This new life begins today.
Catholic
St. Catherine of Sienna will hold Good Friday services in Norway on April 2 at 6 p.m. and Easter Vigil at 8 p.m.
Easter Sunday will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Sienna in Norway at 8:30 a.m. and at Our Lady of Ransom in Mechanic Falls at 10:30 a.m.
Pre registration is required using the links provided on the church’s website: www.cluster30.org, or on their Facebook page, The Parishes of the Western Maine Lakes and Foothills.
Statement: Walk-ins are welcome but space cannot be guaranteed. Household seating is clustered 6 feet apart from other parishioners, at 50% capacity. Worship spaces will be sanitized after each service, and are so looking forward to welcoming our parishioners and community members during this most Holy Week.
Towns
Oxford
Oxford will hold its annual Egg Hunt on April 17 at 10 a.m. due to give the grounds around Station House Rec Center time to dry. All festivities will outside and masks required. Participants between the ages 1 – 12 are invited.
Statement: there will be no indoor events or pancake breakfast this year. But more than 700 eggs will be hidden and the Easter Bunny will be on hand.
Harrison
Harrison’s Easter Egg Hunt will be at Crystal Lake Park on April 3 at 10 a.m. for kids 10 and under.
Statement: Don’t forget to bring your Easter baskets and come find the golden eggs!
