NORTH ANSON — The Winthrop girls basketball team’s season came to a close Tuesday when the Ramblers fell in overtime, 44-43, to Carrabec in the Class C/D central Maine basketball tournament semifinals.

Cheyenne Cahill led the second-seeded Cobras with 20 points, and Courtney Rollins added 10.

Sage Fortin poured in a game-high 22 points for the third-seeded Ramblers, while Madison Forgue chipped in nine.

HALL-DALE 46, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 28: K.K. Wills scored a game-high 17 points as the top-seeded Bulldogs rolled past the No. 4 Phoenix in a Class C/D central Maine tournament semifinal in Farmingdale.

“I’m really  proud of our defensive effort (Tuesday),” Hall-Dale coach Jarod Richmond said. “I was really pleased with our energy. We bought into what we needed to do on the defensive end. It was not as easy as the scored indicated.”

KJ Greenhalgh and Iris Ireland each added seven points for the Bulldogs, who will meet No. 2 Carrabec in the Class C/D final on Friday night.

Jaydn Pingree and Mariyah Fournier each scored seven points to pace the Phoenix.

SACOPEE VALLEY 41, ST. DOMINIC 17: The Hawks routed the Saints at Hiram.

Sacopee Valley’s defense held St. Dom’s to seven total field goals. Jalyn Stacey led all scorers with 16 points and Kylie Day followed with 15.

Jessica Zimmerman scored 10 points for St. Dom’s.

BOYS BASKETBALL
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 62, FREEPORT 54: Wyatt Kenney scored 20 points as the Patriots defeated the Falcons at Freeport.

Cam Cormier added 11 points for the Patriots.

Freeport’s Colby Arsenault led all scorers with 22 points. Blaine Cockburn contributed 16 points and Anthony Casale had 10 points.

SACOPEE VALLEY 74, ST. DOMINIC 60: McGwire Sawyer’s 33 points led the Hawks to a road win over Saints in Auburn.

Evan Coolbroth and Preston Howland each added 15 points for Sacopee Valley.

Alex Willings led St. Dom’s with 28 points, with Gabe Carey chipping in 15 points and Noah Cyr contributing 11 points.
