JAY — Thursday, Feb. 11, Regional School Unit 73 directors tabled action on the Spruce Mountain Phoenix Boosters Handbook.

Spruce Mountain High School Athletic Director Marc Keller had provided the first draft of the handbook at the Nov. 12 board meeting. At that meeting some changes were suggested and a request was made to date the drafts to avoid confusion over the final version.

“We are proceeding ahead with the Boosters clubs having funding, financial pieces go through the office here at the high school,” Keller said Thursday. “This is an opportunity for you to take a look at it, make sure we have your approval.”

The Boosters want to make sure that their money stays in those accounts, isn’t transferred to a general fund, he noted. Keller said that he spoke with MSHS Principal TJ Plourde and he will get something put in writing.

“Be they music, fine arts, academic or athletic, booster clubs should exist to enrich students’ involvement in extracurricular activities without endangering their eligibility,” is written at the front of the handbook.

Found below it is, “The Spruce Mountain High School All Activities Boosters are proud of our many student-athletes, fine arts and engineering students. It is only through the generous donations and supportive community members that we are successful with our fundraising that promotes successful seasons. We all strive to give our students the best opportunities and experiences possible in high school while participating in our athletic, fine arts and engineering activities. Go Phoenix!!”
