Parishioners of Prince of Peace Parish help the Rev. Michael Sevigny, left, gather plastic cups of ashes that spilled from an overturned box Wednesday in the park lot of Holy Family Church on Sabattus Street in Lewiston. Several dozen people of all ages came to the church to have ashes placed on their foreheads in observance of Ash Wednesday. The cups were available for people to take home. Sevigny retreated to fetch a pair of gloves before continuing with applying ashes to a couple dozen people lined up in the parking lot. Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal Buy this Photo
