Fawkes Lueder, left, watches his twin brother, Emmett, roll a giant snowball in their backyard Wednesday morning in Lisbon. The snowball was supposed to be the first part of a snow fort, but broke in half on the next roll. Emmett and his sister, Winnie, right, jumped, stomped and then rolled in the snow as they enjoyed the mild temperatures and light snowfall. Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal Buy this Photo

Winnie Lueder eats some fresh snow Wednesday after working hard rolling a snowball with her brothers in their backyard in Lisbon during light snow after an overnight storm dropped a few inches on most of the area. They were trying to build a snow fort but the light snow kept breaking apart, so they settled for jumping, rolling and tossing around in it as their dad taught them a few things about snow. John Poulin of Auburn clears snow Wednesday from a pond in the city. The 63-year-old is the youngest of a group of former high school hockey players — the oldest is 72 — who play at the pond daily. “The passion never goes away,” said the 1976 graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn. “I sometimes will clear the ice while on skates, but I don’t want to waste my skating energy. I don’t have that much to begin with.” Poulin said the group of friends have been playing together since they were kids. “We are going back 55 years,” he said. Paul Forgues clears snow Wednesday from his car in Auburn. Forgues said the lack of significant snow this winter has been just fine with him. “I’m loving that we have had no snow,” he said. “If we are going to have snow, this is just the right amount. I used to ski when I was younger, but not anymore. The mountains can have all the snow they want.” Daryn Slover/Sun Journal Buy this Photo
