AUBURN — A motorcyclist was injured Friday afternoon when he was thrown from his bike after a colliding with a car on Route 4.
Police said Zachery Anderson, 19, of Chesterville, was riding his Honda GL1500 motorcycle north on Route 4 when he struck the back of a Kia Sorento driven by 17-year-old Divina Mata of Lewiston, who was stopped in traffic and waiting to make a left turn onto Townsend Brook Road.
Anderson, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike, police said. He suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Mata was examined by paramedics at the scene.
Police said after the collision, Anderson’s motorcycle was struck by a third vehicle, a 2011 Nissan Maxima driven by 38-year-old Steven Turcotte of Auburn.
Turcotte was not injured.
Police shut down a section of Route 4 while the crash scene was cleared and the investigation into its cause got underway.
