Public Works crew members Matt Dyke, left, foreman Bill Nichols and Rodney Lake compact a base of crushed rock that was being put over a drain pipe Tuesday where a compactor container will sit at the Livermore Falls transfer station. The crew is also building a retaining wall to support the entryway. The pad on which the container previously sat was cracked and the retaining wall was bulging. Improvements are being paid for with money left over in the department’s budget, Nichols said. Donna M. Perry/Sun Journal Buy this Photo
