Judges announced for Mechanic Falls photo contest

MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society has announced the three judges for its First Ever Photo Contest. They are:

Jim Marston, local media entrepreneur of Uncle Andy’s Digest and LA Metro Magazine fame; Jose Leiva, professional photographer; and Town Manager Zakk Maher.

The theme is “Mechanic Falls – It is here, now and everywhere.” Photographs must have been taken of Mechanic Falls. Entries can be mailed or dropped off at the Mechanic Falls Public Library or Town Office, or mailed to the Town Office, 108 Lewiston St., Mechanic Falls, ME 04256.

Deadline for submitting a matted photograph no larger than 11-by-14 is Wednesday, May 1. Up to three photos can be submitted. There will be an adult and youth division, with three winners in each and a single best of show winner.

Kids can make edible cars at library

FREEPORT — Make two edible cars with a variety of treats at the Freeport Community Library from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. Sign-up is required and the program is limited to 25.

The activity is for age 5 and up and adult supervision is required.

Cemetery association to elect officers

WALES — The annual spring meeting of the East Wales Cemetery Association is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Wales Municipal Building.

Anyone owning a lot or anyone who has a family member buried in East Wales Cemetery is eligible for membership. Directors, secretary and treasurer will be elected for the year.

Seniors to meet, have lunch

SABATTUS — The Sabattus Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at the Maxwell-Gill Hall.

The menu will be chicken pot pie, col slaw and cakes for dessert. The cost is $6.50.
