OXFORD — The Rotary Club of Oxford Hills celebrated 35 years of service on Feb. 2 at the Oxford Casino Hotel. Club members and guests from the community and other rotary clubs joined in the celebration.

The Oxford Hills club is one of about 35,000 worldwide and one of 40 in District 7780, covering the Western Mountains and Seacoast areas of Maine and New Hampshire. The Rotary Club of Oxford Hills was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bethel and chartered in 1983 with 22 members.

After a social hour and meal, including an anniversary cake made by Tina Fox, was served, Rotarians remembered six active members who have passed away.

Former member and Past President Perry Palmer honored his two daughters, Jennifer and Karen Palmer, naming them as Paul Harris Fellows. Past Rotary International Vice President Mike McGovern presented recognition to three members who have made provisions in their wills to support the Rotary Foundation and Immediate Past President Chris Weston was recognized for a great year of service.

The highlight of the evening was naming Tally Decato Rotarian of the Year. Tina Fox, last year’s Rotarian of the Year, made the announcement.
