I am writing to comment on the unfortunate passing of former Auburn Mayor Dick Gleason.
Chip Morrison’s comments about Gleason’s tenure were accurate. Gleason restored tranquility and efficiency to Auburn government after a period of turmoil that followed a city-wide re-evaluation of all residential properties.
Gleason was a kind, hard-working man who will be sorely missed.
Here’s hoping Janet Mills provides the same restoration of character and efficiency in the Blaine House after eight years of turmoil. I believe that government can be compassionate, efficient and fiscally responsible.
