RANGELEY — One of the goals of Rangeley Friends of the Arts’ Creative After School Arts Program is to encourage responsible citizenship by students in the program.
This school year, students asked to partner with United Way of the Tri-Valley Area to raise money for Western Maine Homeless Outreach and Safe Voices. They raised $330 by making jewelry, slime, gingerbread houses, greeting cards and refrigerator magnets for sale at Rangeley’s Annual Mountain Holly Days.
The program offers the opportunity to participate in instrument and dance lessons, live theater, community service, a public art project, newspaper reporting, jewelry and craft making, creative imaginings and fun times. It is a free program and available to students in grades five to 12. The Creative After School Arts Program is funded by donations and grants and supported, in part, by the United Way of the Tri-Valley Area.
