RUMFORD — There is an open call for artists and performers to gather at 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, for “Kaleidoscope,” to mix, mingle and network at the area’s original party for the arts, 49 Franklin’s Mystic Theater. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Currently in the works: Kris Howes will lead “Art Fusion” a live interactive art activity. Five artists take an easel and start to create while a musical performer does a song. When the song is finished, each artists step over to the next easel and adds to what has been done; after five songs each artist has had taken part to create five unique pieces. This will happen several times throughout the event. Area artists are also invited to display and actively create art at their own space.

Local magician Scot Grassette, with his added magical flair, will be the master of ceremonies for the event. Musical performers will include: Adam Breton on solo acoustic guitar and vocals; Thea Dunn has assembled several of her students who will take the stage, including Ainsley Brown from Telstar Regional High School; Ashley Gurney from Buckfield High School; Michaela Beauchesne from Mountain Valley High School; and brother and sister team Liam and Ashley Child, from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

The event is open to the public to enjoy local art and performers. There will be a pub-style menu with sandwiches, salads and fried foods to choose from.
