RUMFORD — A large snow sculpture of Abraham Lincoln’s statue at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. is the latest presidential artwork by the Remeika brothers.

The likeness of the 16th president dominates the front yard of the family’s home on Route 108. It’s 16 feet tall and 11 feet wide.

The real memorial on the National Mall is 19 feet tall and 19 feet wide.

Brothers Timothy, Paul, Stephen and Andrew took special care to include details of the memorial such as Lincoln’s bow tie, vest and the lapels on his jacket.

“We tried to make it as pictures portray it and as real as the actual Lincoln Memorial,” Paul said. “We looked at books of the memorial and we looked at our laptop of the Lincoln Memorial for details, and to get different angles of the memorial so we can get the shape correctly and every detail.”

They chose the statue, Paul said, because they thought it was interesting and challenging, Paul said.

Most of the work was done by Paul, 18, and Timothy, 26, with some help from Stephen, 19, and Andrew, 32. It took about two weeks.

It’s the fourth presidential snow sculpture the family of five brothers and three sisters have created, Paul said.

They built a bust of Lincoln in Wisconsin in 2006 and two sculptures of Mount Rushmore, one on Wyman Hill in Rumford in 2010 and the other on Route 108, in Rumford in 2017, Paul said.
