• Lenny Breau — A renowned jazz guitarist who was a virtuoso on the seven-string guitar.

• Aaron S. Daggett — The last surviving Civil War general, Daggett died in 1938 at age 100.

• Holman Day — Authored more than 20 books and worked as an actor in Hollywood in the 1920s and 1930s. His home still stands at the intersection of Court and Goff streets.

• T.A.B. Fessenden  — Served one term in the U.S. House during the Civil War.

• Edward Little — The lawyer and educator donated the land and funds to build a high school in Auburn, which was named in his honor after his death.

• George Edwin Lord — Raised in Auburn, he served as a surgeon for Gen. George Custer and died at the Battle of Little Bighorn.

• Robert Luce — A Republican congressman who served eight consecutive terms in the U.S. House from 1919-1935 and two more terms from 1937-1941.

• Cynthia McFadden — The EL graduate was co-host of the ABC news show “Nightline.”

• George Perkins Merrill — The geologist was head curator of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.

• Olympia Snowe — The Republican served three terms as U.S. senator and another eight terms in the U.S. House, never losing an election.
