Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Guthries will host Jazz Night with Bates professor and jazz guitarist John Smedley. Performing original jazz compositions, as well as standards from the likes of Miles, Monk and John Coltrane, Smedley will play guitar with Tim Clough on standup bass and Dale Chapman on saxophone.
