Family Fun Day Sliding Party

ANDOVER — The Snow Valley Sno-Goers will hold their Family Fun Day Sliding Party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Club House off Route 5 right on trail ITS 82.

There will be sliding and a free lunch. Children must be with an adult. Come by car or come by snowmobile. The public is welcome.

Bridgton Lyme Support to show film

BRIDGTON — Bridgton Lyme Support will have a public viewing of the film “Under Our Skin,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Bridgton Community Center.

The film looks at stories of medical and scientific neglect and wrongdoing around thousands of cases of undiagnosed or misdiagnosed Lyme disease. This event is free and open to the public.

Society to hold presentation, potluck

CANTON — The Canton Historical Society is hosting “Ancestors in the Attic and Pot Luck Dinner” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in its building at 25 Turner Street. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Those who will attend the society’s dinner and presentation should bring a dish to share and a cherished historical item that is a reminder of the town if they have one.

There is no fee to attend the event and it is open to public. The building is handicap accessible.

KOC to hold free throw competition

BRIDGTON — The Knights of Columbus Council 11376 Bridgton/Fryeburg will hold a basketball Free Throw Competition at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Bridgton Old Town Hall, 26 N. High St. The event will end approximately at 7 p.m.

The competition is open to boys and girls ages 9 through 14. Age of the players is determined as of Jan. 1, 2019. Proof of age must accompany the entry form.

Health career scholarships offered

FARMINGTON — The Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is offering health career scholarships. The scholarships will be presented to students in need of financial assistance who reside in Greater Franklin County, including Livermore Falls and Livermore, and are pursuing careers in the health care field.

To be eligible, the applications must be completed and returned by April 15. Applicants must also have been accepted to a school of their choice by that date.

In May, the Auxiliary will select six recipients for the $600 scholarships. The funds will be awarded following the successful completion of the first semester of post-secondary school.
