DEAR SUN SPOTS: The World’s Greatest Sleigh Rides will be held Sunday, Feb. 17, at 400 Main St. in Lisbon Falls from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be old-fashioned sleigh rides pulled by draft horses, ponies, mules, and mini-horses through fields and forest. The price is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Homemade doughnuts, hot dogs, chowders, and hot drinks are available at the Snack Shack. All proceeds go to Camp Capella.

This event is sponsored by Farmers Draft Horse, Mule, and Pony Club; and the Pejepscot Sno-Chiefs Snowmobile Club. Bring your family, friends, and cameras. This will be our 26th year! I appreciate your columns and read them often. Thank you very much. — No name, No town

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for Canada Mints. We have looked all over for them and found imitations, but they aren’t the same. We also looked for Peach Blossom candy at Christmas and couldn’t find any in our area. Are they still being made? Thank you for all the great work you do. It’s a great service to all your readers. You’re an angel. — No name, Jay

ANSWER: Canada Mints are one of the oldest candies still available. I found them online at Walmart.com, Hannaford and Amazon. It seems like I’ve seen them at the Dollar Store, too, but those could be the “imitations.” Peach Blossoms can also be found at Walmart.com, Amazon, Reny’s, and various grocery stores. Perhaps a friend or relative can help you order some. Readers, please let us know if you have a particular store where you purchase these old-fashioned sweets!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We wish to thank the Good Samaritan who plowed out the end of our driveway and our daughter’s driveway on Jan. 31. We truly appreciated it. God bless you. — No Name, Dixfield

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Here’s a report about another Good Samaritan. The other morning I walked to the end of the driveway to retrieve my local newspaper from the box, but hesitated as the snow run-off had frozen and I had a good-sized patch of ice to navigate. A Fielding’s oil truck was coming down the road and the driver stopped and asked if I needed sand. I told him I just wanted my newspaper and he got out of the truck and got my newspaper. It was just fantastic and marvelous. I just want to say, “Thank you!” — No name, Auburn

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I wanted to let you know I have found a home for the yarn that I had to donate (Jan. 8 Sun Spots). Some went to a wonderful lady in Lewiston and the rest went to the S.E.A.R.C.H. program. There is a wonderful lady in Jay who will be getting the next donation of yarn from me. Thank you for your help. —Charlotte, no town

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In regard to the Feb. 6 Sun Spots, many times local schools can host groups needing a space to meet. I know that Leavitt Area High School used to allow residents space once they filled out a building use permit. It’s been a few years since I worked there, but it’s worth a shot for Denise to check out her local school for her group’s needs. — Sue, no town
