JAY — The plow on a town truck hit the front of a school bus on icy Morse Hill Road on Tuesday morning, Police Chief Richard Caton IV said Wednesday.

None of the eight children or two drivers on the Regional School Unit 73 bus was injured, according to Caton.

The 2013 Thomas bus was operated by Craig Richard, 57, and the 2005 Mack dump truck was driven by Jonathan Ladd, 21, of Jay, Caton said.

The bus pulled to the right to let the truck sand the road, Caton said. The back of the truck then slid on ice, causing the plow wing to hit the bus.

Another bus was sent over to pick up the children, according to Jim Shink, RSU 73 assistant transportation director.

Damage to the bus was estimated at $4,500.

The plow truck was not damaged, Caton said.
