RANGELEY — A Connecticut man and a Massachusetts woman were injured in snowmobile accidents here and in Lang Township on Saturday.
Their names were not immediately available.
An 18-year-old man from Connecticut was injured when a ski on his snowmobile struck a frozen object on the surface of Rangeley Lake and he was thrown off, Cpl. John MacDonald wrote in an email.
The teen had been riding with a group across the lake. He received a slight injury to head but was talking, MacDonald said.
He was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
The second crash involved a woman in her 20s from Massachusetts who also was riding with a group of snowmobilers. She failed to negotiate a turn on ITS 89 in Langtown, and the machine rolled over, MacDonald said.
She sustained a minor back/shoulder injury.
Rider inexperience was likely a contributing factor, MacDonald said. Alcohol was not involved with either incident, he said.
