NORWAY — Local art collective House Lorax invites the general public to their second “First Friday” Blindman’s Ball from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at 290 Main St., second floor.

Join House Lorax for an evening of creative performance art such as creative dance, live music, yoga flow, live art and painting open to the community, and open studio for creative or ecstatic movement for anyone and everyone. Their gallery space has expanded and is displaying more art from local artists to appreciate while sharing conversation, food and drink, and live creative entertainment.

Featured local artists in February:

Angela Coron — A mother, homesteader, plant-lover of all kinds, painter and enthusiastic creator. Coron’s work appears on the House Lorax Gallery walls again through February, with new human figure-inspired pieces and a focus on the passion of intimacy and the body. She is known to be found in homes around southern/western Maine, working on large, original mural pieces created largely with botanical inspiration.

Hannah Gentempo — A lifelong dancer and co-creator of NEVAEH dance circus, massage therapist, vintage clothing shop owner and an artist. Gentempo has numerous collages on display at the gallery, all with abstract themes and ideas, and a spin of vintage inspiration that shines thorough in both her art and clothing available for purchase.

Cheyenne Stubbs — A new member at House Lorax, Cheyenne works by day as an EMT and in her spare time creates abstract art which is now on display at the gallery. Her work explores the human form, landscapes and mixed media forms of making art. Along with her friend, Robert, they make up Ethereal Arts, a co-created art entity with hopes to purchase their own art studio.

Robert Briggs — In his working life, Bob is an EMT full time, and in his spare time he enjoys making flow art. He began to create flow art because he realized that every piece is always different and completely original. Briggs is a co-creator of Ethereal Arts, along with Stubbs.

There are three gallery rooms full of art to explore, a full dance studio, a room for live art and painting, a hookah lounge for relaxation, a kitchen which provides food, drink and conversation, and a fully equipped band room to enjoy local musicians playing throughout the event. All activities are free and open to the public.

There is no charge for this event although donations are welcome at the door. This is a cannabis friendly event, but the House asks there be no alcohol.
