PORTLAND — There are many different weather variables expected today. Here’s how we expect the storm to evolve.

TIMING: Heaviest should be Sunday morning. A change to sleet is likely. Wintry mix should end 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Snow showers may linger through the day Monday.

TYPE: Snow through mid morning. A change to sleet 8 a.m. -11 a/m/. Some freezing rain is possible as well, exp at the coast.

WINDS: NE winds will be strongest Sunday 15 to 25 MPH. Gusts over 30 MPH are possible which may produce near blizzard conditions Sunday morning.

HOW MUCH: 8″ to 14″ southern and central Maine. Up to 2′ in the mountains. Significant blowing and drifting expected.

COASTAL FLOODING: The 5th highest tide of the month is Sunday morning at 9:46 11.1′. Minor to moderate coastal flooding, slash over, and beach erosion is expected. We’re also watching the Sunday 10:28 PM high tide 9.7′ and Monday 9:37 AM high tide 11.5′

In addition to all of this. It’s going to be bitter cold on Sunday. Highs may have a hard time getting out of the single digits and wind chills will be below zero. Those are cold temperatures for folks who may lose power.

Some snow showers are expected on Monday but any additional accumulation will be minimal. Temperatures will stay frigid though with highs in the single numbers to around ten degrees. Wind chills will remain below zero all day Monday. Tuesday will showcase some improvement with bright skies and low 20s. Another weather maker may bring some snow and/or wintry mix mid-week.
