BRUNSWICK — Midcoast Humane animal shelter depends on donations of supplies to help keep the animals comfortable and healthy while in their care. The shelter is always accepting donations. They will accept a wide variety of items.
Animal care supplies
• Wet and dry cat and dog food (please donate dye-free brands — call with any questions);
• canned tuna;
• unscented, no-clumping cat litter;
• collars, leashes;
• paper towels, toilet paper, non-coated paper plates (call about brand preferences);
• Towels and blankets (no pillows, please); and
• Flea and tick medications or other prescription pet medications (please no house treatments or flea collars).
Animal enrichment
• Small animal treats for dogs and cats;
• peanut butter (no xylitol, please);
• animal-safe foods like cottage cheese, jams, plain yogurt, pumpkin, hot dogs, etc.;
• veggies for small animals;
• chicken, beef stock;
• food scales;
• scented items, like catnip, herbs, spices, extracts, animal scents, room sprays;
• toys for animals of all sizes, packs of replacement squeakers;
• newspaper, paper bags, paper egg cartons, paper tubes (paper towel or toilet paper rolls, etc.), empty small boxes, 3-ounce disposable paper cups, etc;
• CDs (especially relaxing music, nature sounds, or audio books), CD players;
• kitten milk replacement, kitten bottles (call about preferred brands);
• pet-safe heating pads;
• office supplies, laptops;
• laundry detergent, dish soap, hand soap;
• duct tape, zip-lock bags, trash bags, zip ties;
• gift cards (to be used when transporting animals); and
• maintenance tools.
Midcoast Humane will provide folks with a receipt for tax records. Donations can be brought to either of the Brunswick facilities or the Edgecomb location during open hours.
