Registration open for FCAS yard sale

FARMINGTON — Franklin County Animal Shelter is holding the 2019 Maine Mega Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Farmington Fairgrounds, 292 High St.

Folks looking to clean out their garage, basement or attic, and help the Franklin County Animal Shelter at the same time should reserve a spot at the yard sale. Early Bird registration is now open. Direct sales vendors, crafters, food vendors, antiques dealers, etc. are all welcome.

Spaces and prices before or on March 31: indoor space (12-by-12), $40; outdoor space (10-by-12), $25. After March 31: indoor space, $50; outdoor space, $35.

All proceeds from registration fees and entrance fees go directly to caring for your furry friends at the Franklin County Animal Shelter, while all your sales go directly in your pocket. ​While direct sales vendors are welcome, exclusivity cannot be guaranteed.

Rabies, microchipping clinic in Norway

NORWAY — Responsible Pet Care is sponsoring a rabies vaccination and microchipping clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Norway Fire Station.

Attending veterinarian will be Dr. Suzanne Best, DVM. Cost for vaccinations is $10, microchipping is $25.

Dash for Dogs 5K and Walk

LEWISTON — Join the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 28, for the sixth annual Dash for Dogs 5K & Strut your Mutt Dog Walk., one of the very few road races that allows folks to run with their canine companions. 

The 5K course (timed for runners, not timed for walkers) will start at GAHS, 55 Strawberry Ave., and follow the scenic paved Greenway Trail along the river. Dogs must be on standard leashes (no flexi-leads) and current on all vaccinations. The race starts promptly at 9 a.m. Arrive one hour in advance to pick up your race number or to register.

Awards for the top finishers in each male/female age category will follow completion of the run (separate categories/prizes for participants running with a dog). All walkers and runners will be entered to win prizes, which will be drawn after the awards are given. There is also a special prize for the top fundraiser.

Registration before March 1 costs $20; from March 2-April 24, cost is $25; same-day registration costs $30. GAHS volunteer opportunities

LEWISTON — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is seeking folks interested in participating in our volunteer program.

Volunteers must be atleast 15 years old. Note that volunteers over age 18 will be required to pay a $25 background check fee, which is due when turning in the completed application. This is to ensure the safety of all volunteers and staff.
