LEWISTON — The 15th Annual Kids Day raised $5,000 for Tree Street Youth in Lewiston.
The event promotes health, safety and environmental awareness. It was held at Lewiston High School in the fall. Some 570 children with their families were served 800 meals, thanks to the Pathway Vineyard Church, Country Kitchen, Mailhot Sausage, Bourque’s Market, Auburn Exchange Club and McDonalds.
Spinal, foot, posture and scoliosis screenings were provided, along with consults from local chiropractors. Drews Dental provided dental education and supplies and Eyemart gave out education and free glasses.
The Lewiston Police Department and Lewiston Regional Technical Center’s Criminal Justice Program provided fingerprinting on the safety ID card and US Cellular printed pictures.
There was music by VJ Pulse, a spinwheel of giveaways from Aero Air Park, face painting by Androscoggin Head Start and Tree Street Youth. Also, cookie decorating, fingerprinting and popcorn from Camden National Bank and Ricker’s apples and snacks from Bangor Savings Bank.
Mr. Drew and His Animals, Wolf Pack Fitness, Pelletiers Karate, Tarmey Tumbling, Family for ME, Red Cross and Community Credit Union also took part.
The Lewiston Fire Department, Sandcastle and L/A Hearing, Maine Mineral and Gem Society, 4-H, Lewiston and Auburn Public Library, Misfit Rehab and Eddie Greyfox supplied displays. There were activities with Junior Naturalist, Girl Scouts of America, Bugs for Dinner and Museum L-A. Monty the Moose, Slugger and Crusher also made appearances.
