AmeriCorps seeks part-time volunteers

LEWISTON — AmeriCorps, Maine Partnership for Environmental Stewardship, is seeking part-time volunteers from the community to be Energy Efficiency Residential Consultants.

Volunteers for this position will first conduct a needs-based assessment to learn what issues are most important to the community and to inform where efforts are most needed. Then, they will be organizing, planning and recruiting for projects, working an average of 10 hours per week.

No environmental experience is necessary. Once the service hours are complete volunteers will receive an education award. Interested folks can go to the position posting online at https://tinyurl.com/y92orbf9.

LEWISTON — Cribbage results for the Lewiston Senior Cribbage League for the week of Dec 20th are:

First place, Cecile Bussiere and Chanel LeBlanc; second place, George Bussiere and Gerry Roy; third place, Betty Ames and Carol Laplante; fourth place, Hope Hughes and Pauline Quimby; and fifth place, Leo Bergeron and Roland Bosse.

Early Christmas service held

JAY — A pre-Christmas service was held Sunday, Dec. 16, at Jay Baptist Church.

Pastor Bestwick delivered the service and the congregational carols were accompanied by Dorothy White on organ and Susan Austin on piano. Austin sung “Good Christian Men, Rejoice.”

A special Christmas Fellowship Breakfast will be held in the vestry at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 23. Prayer Time will be held at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary. Special guest Jeannette Linsey will accompany children downstairs for a children’s Christmas celebration mid-service. A reminder was given of the annual meeting to be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8.
