AUBURN — The Red Hornets snuck in a single goal in the second period to squeak by Falmouth 1-0 in girls’ hockey play Wednesday night.

Brianna Doucette was the lone goal scorer for Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland (7-0), off an assist from Caroline Tracey.

Falmouth moves to 4-2 on the year.

Lewiston 9, Portland/Deering 3

LEWISTON — Lewiston scored five goals in the first period to pull away from Portland/Deering early in a 9-3 girls’ hockey win Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (7-0) received goals from eight players, with Grace Dumond leading the way with two.

Portland (2-4) was led by two goals from Caroline Lerch in the loss.

Boys’ hockey

Gardiner 5, Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse 4, OT

BRUNSWICK — Jared Shaw’s goal 11 seconds into overtime capped Gardiner’s comeback from a three-goal deficit as the Tigers (2-2) beat the Eagles (3-1-1) at Watson Arena on Wednesday.

Tanner Hebert led the Tigers with a goal and two assists. A.J. Chadwick added a goal and an assist, while Gabe Poirier chipped in two assists.

Ian Struck recorded a hat trick and added an assist for the Eagles, who also got three assists from Noah Austin and a goal from Hunter Merryman.

Girls’ basketball

Boothbay 53, Dirigo 29

BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Glory Blethen scored 23 points and Faith Blethen had 16 to lead he Seahawks (4-0) past Dirigo (0-4) on Wednesday.

Sophia Jacques’ 10 points led the Cougars.

Mountain Valley 60, Carrabec 43

RUMFORD — Mountain Valley overcame a four-point second quarter, rallying back and defeat Carrabec 60-43 on Wednesday night in girls’ basketball action.

Rylee Sevigny led the way with 24 points and five steals for the Falcons (5-0). After Mountain Valley’s rough second quarter, the Falcons trailed Carrabec (2-2) by four points. Mountain Valley outscored Carrabec by 21 in the second half with help from Kierstyn Lyons’ 12 points and seven steals and Courtney Carver’s 12 points and 11 boards.

Carrabec was paced by Caitlin Crawford, who scored 11 points, and Julia Baker, who chipped in 10.

Oak Hill 76, Wiscasset 16

WALES — Oak Hill led from beginning to end as it sailed to a 76-16 win over Wiscasset on Wednesday.

Leading the way for Oak Hill (5-0) was Desirae Dumais, who led all scorers with 22 points, highlighted by three 3-pointers. Other high scorers in the 50-point win were Abby Nadeau with 11 and Anna Beach with nine.

Wiscasset (0-5) was led by Sydnie Thayer’s six points.
